Emergency Delivery in a Remote Field Clinic

The Rural Area Veterinary Services' clinics in Mexico typically serve numerous working animals in need of treatment for wounds, dental problems, parasites, and the like. This trip to the hilly state of Guanajuato started out like the other clinics; 80 animals were given veterinary care for various pains caused by hard work and poor conditions. But a request to help a sow trying to give birth meant a side trip to the farm, a bite in the rear by a dog protective of her puppies, emergency surgery with only dim voltage, and eventually, a litter full of five piglets. Read More >>

High-End Veterinary Practice Gives Generously to RAVS

RAVS applauds the efforts of the veterinary community with whom they work, including the Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic in Monterey County, Calif. Steinbeck has allowed their skilled veterinarians to participate in Guatemala and Mexico RAVS clinics, provided their state-of-the-art facilities to process sterile surgery packs and shoot a training video, and otherwise lend support to help animals at-need in their community. A Forum for Change

RAVS veterinarians and teams have been aiding the animals and communities in Mexico for 6 years. In March they hosted a forum on small animal overpopulation for the many parties involved in the issue. Panelists attended from Mexican universities, the government, animal welfare organizations and sterilization campaigns.
