Julie Hoffman Marshall, the author of Making Burros Fly: Cleveland Amory, Animal Rescue Pioneer, describes the endeavors of The Fund for Animals’ founder, Cleveland Amory, to protect and ultimately save animals in harm’s way. Amory was perhaps best known as the world-respected author of the cat trilogy: The Cat Who Came for Christmas, The Cat and the Curmudgeon, and The Best Cat Ever. His greatest legacy perhaps is the Black Beauty Ranch (now named the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch, in his honor), a permanent home for animals who have been abused, abandoned, or injured.
